Annual Hillcrest Cityfest Street Fair

The 27th annual Hillcrest Street Fair under the Hillcrest Sign. CityFest celebrates community spirit with Music, Arts and Crafts, a celebratory lantern parade and rededication of the neighborhood sign. Join over 150,000 people beneath the Hillcrest Sign at the largest neighborhood street fair of its kind.  CityFest 2010 is a celebration of art, music, food and Spirit in San Diego’s premiere urban neighborhood. CityFest will feature a Grand Stage beneath the Hillcrest Sign, a massive open air beer garden on University Ave., a kid’s carnival, mechanical bull, dunk tank, celebratory lantern parade at dusk and a “relighting” of the neighborhood sign. 

Arts and Crafts Village

CityFest has one of the largest crafters areas of any similar street fair. With over 250 vendors CityFest is the perfect place to get that one of a kind specialty that you’ve been looking for. The Arts and Crafts Village will be occurring from 12 noon through 8:30pm on Fifth Ave. between Washington and Pennsylvania.

Grand Stage

The Grand Stage is located at the heart of Hillcrest in front of the neighborhood sign.  It is visible from University Ave., Fifth Ave. and the “Spirit’s Beer Garden”.  The Grand Stage will feature ten hours of local and regional entertainment and will be seen by everyone who attends the event.  

Gigantic Food Court

CityFest’s gigantic food court will bring together flavors from across the city and the world!  With over 30 food vendors at the event, attendees will satisfy whatever taste they have.

Spirit’s Beer Garden

The Spirit’s Beer Garden:  An entire block of University Ave will be an over 21 area that will feature drink stations, Drags Queens in the dunk tank, interactive entertainment and a view of the Grand Stage. Sit and enjoy Blue Moon Beer, a margarita, or one of our many Redbull recipes while listening to hours of terrific performers on the Grand Stage.

33rd America’s Finest City Half Marathon

The 33rd America’s Finest City Half Marathon begins at historic Cabrillo National Monument, with its majestic view of both San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, follows scenic San Diego Bay and Harbor Island along the Embarcadero to The Star of India, winds through downtown San Diego, and ends in beautiful Balboa Park. Starts at 7:00am.

5K Run/Walk – Fast loop course run completely within Balboa Park. Starts at 6:45 a.m

Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market

Blue Whale Cruises – Follow the Migration

6/17/10 – 9/12/10 Blue Whales, some as long as 100 feet and weighing up to 190 tons, are being sighted 9 to 30 miles off San Diego’s coast. H&M Landing, in partnership with the San Diego Natural History Museum, has created a series of Blue Whale Cruises from San Diego Bay. The opportunity to view these offshore giants is available on a limited number of trips this summer. H&M Landing’s Blue Whale Cruises will run each Thursday and Sunday from June 17 – September 12. The 6 hour cruise departs at 10 AM and returns at 4 PM. Cruises include commentary and interpretation by the Museum’s trained volunteer staff of shipboard naturalists.
