Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market

8/06/10 – 8/08/10 The 9th annual Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery at the Bazaar del Mundo Shops in Old Town San Diego serves up one of the nation’s most extensive collections of authentic folk art, traditional clothing and textiles, colorful collectibles and dazzling jewelry.

Festival-goers can take in an amazing array of demonstrations, enjoy nonstop entertainment and feast on mouth-watering Mexican cuisine at this free weekend event.

The garden courtyard at the Bazaar del Mundo – now at the corner of Juan and Taylor Streets in Old Town – will be overflowing with artisans from Chihuahua, Mexico, creating eye-popping Mata Ortiz pottery, a centuries-old art form renowned for its hand-painted geometric and ancestral symbols.

Blue Whale Cruises – Follow the Migration

6/17/10 – 9/12/10 Blue Whales, some as long as 100 feet and weighing up to 190 tons, are being sighted 9 to 30 miles off San Diego’s coast. H&M Landing, in partnership with the San Diego Natural History Museum, has created a series of Blue Whale Cruises from San Diego Bay. The opportunity to view these offshore giants is available on a limited number of trips this summer. H&M Landing’s Blue Whale Cruises will run each Thursday and Sunday from June 17 – September 12. The 6 hour cruise departs at 10 AM and returns at 4 PM. Cruises include commentary and interpretation by the Museum’s trained volunteer staff of shipboard naturalists. Comic-Con 2010  July 22nd – July 25th

San Diego Comic-Con International (as given in its logo), also known as Comic-Con International: San Diego , and commonly known as Comic-Con or the San Diego Comic-Con, was founded as the Golden State Comic Book Convention and later the San Diego Comic Book Convention in 1970 . It is traditionally a four-day event (Thursday through Sunday — though a four-hour preview night on Wednesday is open to professionals, exhibitors, and some guests pre-registered for all four days) held during the summer in San Diego California , at the San Diego Convention Center.

Comic-Con 2010 already has an impressive lineup of special guests who have agreed to appear at the 2010 event. Our special guest lineup is an incredibly diverse one, consisting of some of the hottest creators in the world of comics, ranging from the mainstream to the alternative, international, and syndicated branches of the industry. They are  also, of course, featuring Golden and Silver Age creators, SF/Fantasy writers and artists, and longtime Comic-Con friends.

10th Annual Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show

7/04/10 Largest July 4th fireworks show in California. Show stars at 9pm from 4 barges around north San Diego Bay simulcast to music & live TV. Best viewing from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Coronado Ferry Landing and boats. Over 8,000 pyro technical shot will be fired to coordinated music and live television. Best view from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Coronado Landings areas.
